Dear Lynn, Sarah, Melissa and Families
We were so saddened to hear of Karen's passing. She held a special place in our family's collective heart because of the kindness she showed to all of us as new parishioners and all her work with the Alter Servers. It was always a comfort to see her when she worked at the hospital, where she emanated peace and calmness. May your hearts be held in the shadow of His wings.

For many months I drove Karen to and from her treatments at the Ottawa General Hospital. We spent many hours on the road to and from. During that time we had the most pleasant conversations remembering working at Huycke at the same time and many other memories where we had crossed paths in the past. We became good friends and I think Karen grew to trust me. So much so that she would request me to drive her. I cherish my time with her, she was the sweetest, kindest woman.
My condolences to her family whom she spoke of fondly all the time.
RIP Karen Smith...REST IN PEACE

Not a mother by blood, but my mother by choice. Karen was the most beautiful stepmother a girl could ask for. From the moment I met her, she accepted me as her own and loved me like I was hers from the start. Love knows no bounds when hearts connect. I love you Karen more than you can ever dream possible and you became an instant mother and grandmother in one day. You sure will be missed by this daughter. Love you to the moon and back. I too worked with Karen back in the day at Huyck. Lots of fun times socializing with her and our wonderful Huyck/Kenwood colleagues. She was a great gal, full of life and a fun person to be around. Lost track of her over the years until I retired back here in Arnprior and so wanted to sit down with her and have a chat about the ‘good old days’. One should never procrastinate. Rest In Peace dear girl as you rejoin Arnold. Condolences to the family.
