Obituary of Karen Smith

With heavy hearts, the family announces that Karen passed away peacefully at the Arnprior and District Memorial Hospital while surrounded by love and prayers on Thursday morning, August 11, 2022. She was 74. Beloved wife of the late Arnold Smith (March 30, 2019). Loved Mom of Lynn Mouck (Rex Cole) and Bev McNeil (Derek). Cherished and proud "Nana" of Sarah Mouck (Claude Dunkley) and Melissa Lloyd (Kevin) and "Ninny" of Claire, Tristan, Thomas, James and Amelia. Dear sister of Rolly Farrell (Alice), Blair Farrell (Lana), Brad Farrell, Bonnie Farrell and Polly Sackmann (Peter). Predeceased by her brother, Kevin Farrell and her sister, Glenda Benoit. Also predeceased by her father, Lonial Farrell. Karen was a longtime employee of Huyck and Weavexx Canada. After the closing of the factory, she went on to work in the administrative department of the Arnprior and District Memorial Hospital serving in several positions prior to her retirement in 2019. She was an active and devoted member of St. John Chrysostom Parish in Arnprior having served on Parish Council for many years. Her kindness and willingness to help others will be long remembered by many in our community. Karen's sheer determination and love of life were evident until the very end. She will be missed. Her final care has been entrusted to the Pilon Family Funeral Home and Chapel Ltd., 50 John Street North, Arnprior where visitation will be held on Friday evening, August 12th from 7 to 9 p.m. only. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in her beloved St. John Chrysostom Church, Arnprior on Saturday morning, August 13th at 10 o'clock. Members of the Catholic Women's League will assemble at the funeral home for prayers on Friday evening at 6:30.
