We got to know Bob and Elizabeth through our mutual love of wildlife. The work they did in caring for orphaned raccoons was the inspiration for Gary and I to set up the Ottawa-Carleton Wildlife Centre more than 35 years ago. Elizabeth remained very involved in caring for wildlife and in helping with the early organization of the Centre. Bob joined a small group of volunteers with Gary, volunteering his master carpentry skills to build the outdoor compound and animal caging needed. It was a fun time - particularly given Bob and Elizabeth's sense of humour and their 'just get on with it attitude'. Their memory will always be an important part of the Centre's history.
My condolences to Valerie, Len, Michael and Family. Their support of Bob contributed significantly to his long and productive life.

I first met Bob when I joined HU-21 Squadron as a new pilot in 1958. Throughout the years he served as an example of how to be a Naval Officer, how to be a good person, and as my Mentor, nudging me gently along the right course and ensuring I was ready for the next step. More importantly he was a very dear friend, fond of stories about our service days, and some very old jokes. I will miss those days at the Aviation Museum. and our cherished coffee breaks. He was a bright spot in every day you spent with him. My condolences to Valerie, Michael and the entire family. I too will miss him.
Rest easy Bob, your watch is over, your duty done. I will see you again in the Delta.

Bob Murray, known to me as “Robert Terrific “ was a good friend fellow naval officer and workmate. We had many adventures together travelling, discussions, some arguments but always friendly and respectful. My condolences to the family especially Valerie and Michael.

If allowed only two words to define my Uncle Bob it would be “cheerful” and “caring.” And what a lovely man he was. A passion not just for family and friends but for life itself. Any conversation with Uncle Bob was never about himself, but rather always about you. Where else, too, could anyone find someone with such aeronautical knowledge and professionalism to champion getting history right at Ottawa’s Aviation Museum? He was their treasured and valued historian for many years, who also dwelt just as passionately with family lore, tracing, documenting — getting it right. We’ll miss Uncle Bob a lot but treasure our memories of this smiling, wonderful man with such a great sense of humour.
