Obituary of Ken Dodge
With sadness, the family announces that Ken passed away at The Grove Nursing Home, Arnprior on Sunday evening, April 9, 2023; James Kenneth Dodge of Arnprior was in his 90th year.
Beloved son of the late John and Catherine (nee Roach) Dodge. Ken is survived by his brother, J. Desmond Dodge (late Gwen) of Orléans.
Predeceased by his 2 sisters: Doris Leslie (late Lloyd) and Marie A. Dodge.
Much loved uncle of the late Brian Leslie, the late Elaine Leslie, Rosemary Leslie, Maureen Leslie, and Stephen Dodge (Patricia).
He will be dearly missed by his great nieces and nephews the late Gregory, Jeffrey (Tania) of Alaska, Alexandra (Kassem), Alexander, Christina, and great great nephews Talon and Drydon.
Ken was a caring and talented French teacher during his career at Arnprior District High School, contributing wholeheartedly to the success of his students and colleagues. Ken traveled extensively through Europe during summer vacations. He loved France and enjoyed sharing his knowledge of Paris with many students over years of school excursions.
His collection of restored antique furniture was well known and respected. Many a day was spent at country auctions waiting for just the right piece. He was a phenomenal cook and enjoyed food to its greatest extent. He loved cooking for groups of friends and family, and often used every pan in the kitchen. He enjoyed summers at the cottage for many years, and then later in retirement embraced the life of a snowbird in Florida. His search for special pieces continued in the abundance of Antique shows and shops available there.
Ken loved dogs. In almost any photo of Ken, he is walking, training, or holding a dog. He had three Shelties over the years who were his constant companions. They were all named Brandy, he figured he wouldn't remember a new name so he’d just stick with what worked.
Special thanks to the Nursing Teams, Personal Support Workers, and all of the Care staff at The Grove for their care of Ken in the final eighteen months of his life. We deeply appreciate your care and support during his stay with you.
