Obituary of Hugh Orr

(Retired – Scotiabank)

With sadness yet grateful for an amazing well lived life, the Orr family announces that Hugh passed away at the Bonnechere Manor, Renfrew while surrounded by loved ones on Monday morning, August 21, 2023.

He was 84.

Beloved husband for almost 60 years of Joyce (nee Moffitt). Dearly loved and proud father of Tracey Orr and Tim Orr (Lori O’Neill), both of Ottawa and Tanya Paul (Bruce) of Pakenham. Cherished “Poppy” of Kyle O’Connell, Zachary and Cassandra Guindon, Matthew and Katie Orr, Evan, Wyatt and Thomas Paul.

Dear brother of Janice McLaren (Jack), Marian Warren (late Alton) and Carol Leach (late Kevin), all of Cobden.

Predeceased by his parents, Clarence and Grace (nee Mathieson) Orr as well as a sister, Lynne Helferty (Don) of Cobden.

Hugh was born and raised on the family farm in Ross Township. He left home at an early age to obtain an education and later pursue a career with the Bank of Nova Scotia which brought him to many communities in the Ottawa Valley over the span of 35 years. His many passions included home renovations, woodworking, outdoor pursuits such as fishing and snowmobiling and spending time working at the cottage. He will be remembered most for his selfless nature, kindness of spirit, and devotion to family and friends.

The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to the amazing staff at the Bonnechere Manor for their exceptional kindness and care shown to Hugh and the entire family while he was a resident there.

Final arrangements have been entrusted to the

Pilon Family Funeral Home and Chapel Ltd., 50 John Street North, Arnprior

where a private visitation will be held.

Interment will follow at the Howard Cemetery, Forester’s Falls.
