Obituary of Bev Lefurgy
(Retired Driver - Voyageur Colonial Bus Lines)
Following a period of declining health, Bev passed away at the Arnprior and District Memorial Hospital on Monday afternoon, October 23, 2023.
He was 80 years of age.
Beloved son of the late Vernie and Vera (nee Nolan) Downey. Dear brother of Margaret Quinn (late Mike), Viola Turner (late Allan) and Leo Downey (Evangeline). Predeceased by 3 brothers: Jim Downey (late Edna), Linus Downey (Madeline) and Oswald Downey (Joan) as well as 2 sisters, Loretta McGuire (late Keith) and Anna Burns (late Joe). Fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews and many good friends.
From an early age, Bev grew up on the farm with the Downey family in Manotick Station. He went on to enjoy a long and happy career as a professional driver with Voyageur Colonial Bus Lines. Following a stroke he suffered years ago, he moved to West Carleton and spent a great deal of time at the Pinto Valley Ranch in Fitzroy Harbour. Always willing to give a helping hand when asked, Bev will be remembered by many for his love of the farm as well as his kindness.
Final care has been entrusted to the
Pilon Family Funeral Home and Chapel Ltd., 50 John Street North, Arnprior
where visitation was held on Thursday afternoon, October 26th from 2 to 4 p.m.
A Funeral Mass was celebrated in Our Lady of the Visitation Church, 5338 Bank Street South, South Gloucester on Friday morning, October 27th at 11 o’clock.
The family was at the Church one hour prior to Mass time to greet friends.
Interment Parish Cemetery.
A reception followed in the Parish Hall.
