Obituary of Dom Costello

March 14, 1935-November 12, 2023

(Retired – Huyck Canada)

In keeping with the way he lived his life, Patrick Dominic “Dom” Costello maintained his sense of humour, storytelling and appreciation of others up until he passed away peacefully at the Ottawa General Hospital

early Sunday morning, November 12, 2023. He was 88.

Predeceased by his best friend of 58 years “Bun” (Bonita nee Desjardins); his parents Joe and Josephine (nee Robinson) Costello and his 6 siblings: Patricia Sullivan (late Desmond), Loretta Tario (late Merlyn “Pete”), Gervase (Rosemary of Arnprior), Marjorie Powell (late Harry), Audrey Mulvihill (late Terry) and Fr. Michael Costello.

Beloved and devoted father of Angela Solar (Jonathan) of Kingston, Kevin (Audrey) of Perth and Noreen (John Rebinczak) of Carp. Cherished and proud Grandpa of Alex, Gracie, Grayson and Evelyn.

Dear brother-in-law of Donnie Desjardins, June Kerr and Velma Desjardins. Lovingly remembered by his many nieces, nephews and friends.

Dom loved life and always approached it with a practical, positive attitude. His creativity was evident in the countless custom-made leather goods enjoyed by many. He was very proud of his successful building projects, especially the family cottage on Horseshoe Bay in Sheenboro. He appreciated the exemplary care he received from the staff at the Ottawa General Hospital. His legacy of love and laughter lives on in the many who were blessed to have known him. He will be missed.

Dom’s final care were entrusted to the

Pilon Family Funeral Home and Chapel Ltd., 50 John Street North, Arnprior

where visitation was held on Thursday, November 16th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and again on Friday morning, November 17th from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated in St. John Chrysostom Church, Arnprior on Friday morning at 11 o’clock.
