John "Jack" Dyer

Obituary of John "Jack" Dyer

Peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday afternoon, April 10, 2024 Jack passed away at the age of 83.

Jack was the devoted husband of 61 years to Sharon (nee Thorburne) and the loving father of David (Shelley), Neil (Cheryl), Bryan (Shelly) and Patricia Schlievert (Chris).

He was the proud grandfather/Poppa Poppa of four grandchildren: Jessie Dyer (Darren Davis), Mike Dyer (Jody), Meagan Dyer (Albert Baker) and Karlee McNab (Austin) and a great-grandfather of Amaya, Kenzie, Cole, Sophia,  Ivy, Jessica and Jackson. Dear son of the late William and Nancy Dyer and predeceased by his brothers  Tommy and Norman.

Born in Harthill, Scotland, Jack Immigrated to North Bay Ontario in 1952. After working a couple of years with the railway, he moved to Nova Scotia in 1960 and met the love of his life. He served five years in the Royal Canadian Navy, then spent the remainder of his career travelling the world with External Affairs Canada. His retirement years were enjoyed in Sandy Point/Jordan Falls, Nova Scotia before finally moving back to White Lake, Ontario in 2023.

Jack had a great love and fascination with cars and always enjoyed just going out for a drive. He was a man of his word, and a shining example to others of what it means to be an Honest Man and true gentleman. Afternoons with the boys at Timmy’s, family get-togethers, hunting, and time spent outside with the kids became his treasured passion. He had a love for all animals, especially his cat Lucky. More than anything, Jack adored his family. He and Sharon raised their children in a home of support and love and showed them the values of honesty and integrity.

Jack was a quiet, gentle man who loved his family above all.

He will forever be loved, missed and remembered by all of his family and friends.
