Obituary of Bob Gourlay

 Robert “Bob” Gourlay

(Robert Gourlay Demolition, Metcalfe)

While surrounded by loved ones, lots of love and many tears, Bob passed away peacefully in the comfort of his own home

on Thursday evening, June 6, 2024 following a brief yet exhausting battle with cancer; Robert John “Bob” Gourlay, a longtime businessman and resident of Metcalfe, ON was only 74.

Beloved husband of Carolyn Wilson. Much loved Dad of Tracy Henderson (Steven) and Eileen Lawler (Aaron) and Step-Dad of Tracy Fredericks (Jay) and Brad Robinson (Kaitie).

Cherished and proud Grampa of Joshua, Jordan, Grace, Caleb, Eden, Nathan, Zachariah, Jeremiah, Cole, Ryan, Kenzie and Knoah.

Bob is also survived by his former wife, Elizabeth Renaud. Predeceased by an infant granddaughter, Jessica.

Bob was the last surviving child of the late Edgar and Eileen (nee Barnes) Gourlay of Kinburn.

He was also predeceased by his infant sister, Helen as well as his 2 brothers: Kenneth and David.

A man of many talents and endless strength and energy, Bob loved and lived life to the fullest. His willingness and ability to help others made him an instant friend to the many who encountered his kindness and had the privilege of knowing him. He would help anyone at any time without hesitation. No matter the task, he was always up for a new challenge.

Bob made a continuous effort to stay in touch with the folks back home as he never forgot the roots that he came from.

A legend in his own time, Bob may be gone but he will never be forgotten. He will be missed.
