Obituary of Bob Legault

(Retired – Government of Canada)

Bob passed away suddenly but very peacefully at his home, Island View Suites in Arnprior on Saturday morning, June 8, 2024. He was 86. Predeceased by his beloved wife and best friend, Carmel (nee McVeigh) who left us July 26, 2020. Son of the late John and Marie (nee Brennan). Bob is survived by his brother, Ray (Susan), his sister-in-law, Mary Legault (late Jack) as well as his nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews. Also survived and fondly remembered by his extended family, friends at Island View Suites as well as many wonderful longtime friends, both young and old within our community. Bob loved and enjoyed life to the fullest. Besides his unwavering love and devotion for his life companion, Carmel, Bob was passionate about people. He could strike up a conversation with anyone regardless of age or background. He contributed a great deal of time, effort and focus on making Arnprior a better place to live. His kindness and generosity were limitless. In recognition of his outstanding commitment and contribution to the Arnprior Optimist Club, the “Arnprior Optimist Bobby Legault Bicycle Parade”, an annual event for youth was named after him. If you knew Bob, you also knew of his insatiable love of golf. He was a longtime member of the Arnprior Gold Club. Travel; spending time with family and friends; chatting with acquaintances. Bob loved it all. He will be missed.

Family and friends are invited to remember Bob during a visitation to take place at the Pilon Family Funeral Home and Chapel Ltd., 50 John Street North, Arnprior on Monday, July 15th from 12 to 12:45 p.m. followed by a Funeral Liturgy to be held in the Pilon Family Chapel at 1 o’clock. Reception afterward. Private Family interment Malloch Road Cemetery, Arnprior.

In memory of Bob, please consider a donation to the Arnprior Regional Health Foundation or the St. John Chrysostom Church Memorial Fund.
