To Phil's Family, It saddens me to hear of his passing, I didn't know he had been ill. I worked with Phil at Boeing for many years and we traveled all over this country together. I enjoyed his company very much, overcoming any obstacles that would come up. One amusing memory is when Phil persistently talked about how fast his Mustang was in comparison to my Ford truck until I challenged him to a race across a plowed field... then he backed off. Phil is a legend! For 40 years, he welcomed me, and so many others into his home and cottage to spend quality time, first as young kids playing hockey sticks in the basement, then youth listening to the boys play music or watching a big game, and then as adults fishing and reconnecting on the patio. Behind the bench and in the hockey dressing room, Phil was an amazing coach and leader. You always knew where he stood, and he always knew how to get the best out of you. Later in life, when health challenges knocked him down, he got back up stronger than ever. An inspiration to us all and a true legend.

I am so sorry for your loss. As the boys were growing up Phil always turned his time getting the boys skates done into long and often hilarious visits. He brought the latest news from town and the hockey world. I was proud to consider him my friend. So many memories to share. Just loved your welcoming nature anytime we met. My all time favourite was the evening you and Jo welcomed our girls into your cottage to help Jo decorate a cake.
