Obituary of Phil Bayford

(Retired – Boeing Canada, Arnprior Division)

With great sadness, the Bayford family announces that Phil passed away peacefully at The Ottawa General Hospital on Tuesday evening, June 11, 2024 while surrounded by loved ones;

Philip Edward Bayford of Arnprior was only 72.

Beloved husband and best friend for over 47 years of Jo-Ann (nee Patrois). Loved and respected Dad of Ryan (Sarah), Derek (Dianne) and Chris.

Cherished and proud Grampa of Connor, late Emma, Sawyer and Silas, Edward, Charlotte and Quinn.

Dear brother of Robert “Rob” Bayford (Brenda) and Peter Bayford.

Special son-in-law of Pat and Craig Cheney and brother-in-law of Jim Patrois (Elaine), Susan Stavenow (Terry), Faye Patrois (David Fraser), Kevin Patrois (Sandy Jarvis), Mike Patrois (Debbie Enright) and Debbie Patrois (Ron Fennell).

Also survived by many nieces, nephews, friends and former coworkers. Predeceased by his parents, Walter “Ted” and Audrey (nee Fumerton) Bayford as well as his father-in-law, Joseph “Joe” Patrois.

Phil was an Ottawa Valley boy through and through. He spent his life in and around Arnprior.

Though he thoroughly enjoyed his career at Boeing in Arnprior, he took great pleasure in the camaraderie and friendships created there that would last him a lifetime.

Always interested in taking on new projects, Phil tackled them all while giving his best to the cause.

He loved spending quality time with family either at home or at the cottage in Stewart’s Bay.

He was known and admired by friends of all ages.

Phil spent many years running to and from hockey rinks as a coach for several Ottawa Valley Titans teams as well as Arnprior Packers teams.

He was the loudest voice in many rinks.

He recently enjoyed and took great pride in watching and supporting his grandkids while they enjoy the game.

Phil proudly wore the title of Papa KAK every year as he welcomed the boys back from their early morning fishing trip; weighed in their fish;

fed the lads before sending them out to the golf course on the third leg of their annual triathalon…

a yearly tradition that occurred in early July for over 2 decades.

Phil spent hours chatting, listening to the boys and bands play music and creating memories with family and friends that will last forever.

He leaves a void that could never be filled but also memories that can never fade away. He will be missed.

The family wish to thank the nurses and staff of the 5th and 2nd floors at the Ottawa General Hospital for the kindness and respect they showed Phil in his final days.

Also special thanks to everyone who have supported Phil and the entire family these past weeks as they journeyed through a very difficult time.

Phil’s final care and arrangements were entrusted to the

Pilon Family Funeral Home and Chapel Ltd., 50 John Street North, Arnprior

where visitation was held on Tuesday, June 18th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and again on Wednesday, June 19th from 9:30 to 10:30.

A Service to honour and remember Phil took place in the Pilon Family Chapel at 11 o’clock.

Following the service, everyone was invited to celebrate Phil during a reception at The Prior Sports Bar until 3 p.m.
