Ron and Leslie, my sincere condolences for your loss. I have fond childhood memories of my time spent with the Mulligans, who we considered family. The Tomkinson’s were always included in the Thompson/Mulligan clan get togethers at the cottage at Willola Beach and the Grey Cup parties in Ottawa. Eric of course hung out with my older brother Gary and I have my suspicions that Eric may have led him astray on a few occasions. I tried to emulate the cottage life for my own children by purchasing water front property on Temperance Lake. Lots of bonfires, card games and water sports; only thing missing was the horse shoe pits that were a staple at the Mulligans.
My mother spoke very fondly of the cruises she took with Ann and Leslie and Eric following the passing of Eldon and my father. I have a cherished photo of Eric and my mother drinking margaritas on one these cruises. My mother wrote “It was 1030 am!” on the back of the photo. Who knew my mother like margaritas! Thank you Eric!

Sincere condolences on your loss, Leslie & Ron. So glad we were able to reconnect recently, and you were able to celebrate Dad's 100th with us last summer. Eric was always a fun, generous guy. One March Break in the early 80's, I flew to Florida to surprise my parents in Titusville. Eric & a friend drove down from there to pick me up in Miami (maybe it was less expensive than Orlando or just available), but they couldn't remember where they had parked the car in that huge lot. We wandered for quite some time - it was a laugh! We went to Disney too. Hold onto the memories. Grief truly is the price of love.

Our sincere condolences to Leslie, Jennifer, Ryan and Isobel and family's. I worked with Eric at BNS many years ago with my husband joining us at the get togethers where he and Eric always had a great time. Their laughter was so good to hear. We were just talking about Eric not that long ago. We were sharing so many good stories about when he and Eric got together. Our hearts are with all of you at this sad time. He will remain in our hearts forever. Sincerely, Dennis and Jeannette Bertrand

Leslie,
Sorry to hear of Mull's passing, you have our condolences. I have known Eric for over 56 years, we were part of the "Ottawa Guys " who played golf down on the seaway in Morrisburg back in the early 70s. Eric and his Dad Eldon made a trophy for us and for over 20 years we would get together to play for this trophy. Great memories and great laughs. I still have the trophy. Eric was always the life of the party. There were Boxing Day get togethers at Eric's parent's cottage in Fitzroy Harbour with his Bank of Nova Scotia colleagues and the Ottawa guys, crazy, fun loving times for young single men. Most of those men have also passed away . I wish that I had kept closer contact with Eric and you Leslie over the years Again, our condolences to you and your family.

Eric and I worked together for many years at Petro-Canada Fuels in Nepean. Eric was always in a good mood and we enjoyed many laughs together.
Eric ‘re-introduced’ me to cream soda during our many lunches together.
Rest in peace Eric.

Eric was a cousin of mine and a good man. I’m so sorry he’s gone. He will be missed especially by Leslie. He rescued me once when we were younger about 60 years ago. My family used to go often on a Sunday to visit Wilola Beach which is beside the Ottawa River near Fitzroy Harbour. We visited other members of the Thompson family - Aunt Ann, Uncle Eldon, Eric and Ron Mulligan and Uncle John and Aunt Helen, Wendy and Sheila Thompson and sometimes Uncle Harry’s family, Auntie Gwen’s family and my Aunt Hazel. My Mom was Kay and my Dad, Jim and my two brothers Colin and Norm Kearney. We had quite a gang sometimes and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. There were friends of my cousins to meet also. One day when I was about 16, I think, I was on the raft on the river ( which was a crazy thing to do because I couldn’t swim) and one of the neighbours boys pushed my off the raft into about 11 feet of water. I could hear a voice above saying “ She can’t swim”. My inner voice told me not to panic, kick my legs and you’ll go up and someone will help you get to the raft. Eric was younger and smaller than me but he was in the water, waiting for me. If I had panicked, the both of us would have drowned but Eric rescued me and got me to the dock safely. We kids kept this incident quiet but it happened and thanks to Eric, I lived to see another day.
