Obituary of Matt Dolan

“Matt”

With heavy hearts, the family regrets to inform you that Matt passed away at the Ottawa Hospital-General Campus with loved ones by his side on Tuesday, December 3, 2024; Matthew James Dolan of Fitzroy Harbour was only 35. Beloved spouse and partner of Heather Dykens. Cherished and proud Dad of Clayton. Much loved son of Susan McGregor (Steve Arbuthnot) and Allan Dolan (Monica “Mickey” Stinson). Dearly loved brother of Steve (KaraLee Craig) and Jenna Fenton (Brad). Loved son-in-law of Dolores Penney (Steve Stewart) and Guy Dykens. Special brother-in-law of Chelsea Dykens (Eden Forsberg) and “Uncle Matty” of Jacsen, James, Johnny, Thora and Freya.

Matt was a one of a kind. Never wanting to stand out he was the lad who always stood at the back of the room encouraging others to shine and succeed.

He lived life to the fullest. He worked hard and played harder.

A fun loving, kind spirit who always enjoyed the company of family and friends, Matt has left an indelible mark on the hearts of those closest to him. His journey through cancer was difficult and challenging. He fought with all his might but a cure was not to be.

Strength and courage were among Matt’s finest attributes.

He lived them until the very end.

The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks Dr. Kevin Imrie, fellow doctors, the nurses and staff at the Ottawa General Hospital for their kindness,

compassion and the amazing care they provided Matt.

Matt’s final arrangements have entrusted to the care of

the Pilon Family Funeral Home and Chapel Ltd., 50 John Street North, Arnprior

where a private family visitation will take place followed by interment at St. George’s Anglican Cemetery, Fitzroy Harbour.

In Matt’s memory, donations to the Canadian Mental Health Association or the Ottawa Hospital Foundation – (Stem Cell Research) https://ohfoundation.ca/in-memoriam would be appreciated by his family.
